Ruger American Rifle Innovative Features

William Batterman Ruger is the man behind the Ruger American Rifle (RAR). He was able to resurrect the guns of the late 19th century, enhanced the design, then earn a lot on each new design.

Clever Curve

When designing a firearm, you normally start with the magazine, this is what Ruger engineers did in this rifle. They have done something clever. The Ruger American Rifle’s magazine is detachable, which is not rare, but it is likewise rotary, which is very uncommon in a centerfire rifle.

Instead of having a flat bottom it has a shallow four-round box. This enabled Ruger to design a slender, molded stock that follows the magazine’s profile. And because of this, it has a curved bottom, too, instead of the ordinary flat. It also has a good recoil pad.

Power Bedding System

The Ruger’s Power Bedding System is embedded in the stock, hanging beneath the front receiver ring. It has 4 angled aluminum bedding blocks that snugly fit in the receiver’s grooves. If the bedding screws are tightened, it will pull the receiver straight down as well as the wedge into position, this contributes to the rifle’s remarkable accuracy.

There are two stainless steel V blocks, bedded into the stock with upper surfaces that is carefully-machined. A slight radius is built into one surface to make up for any modifications in parts fit. On the receiver’s underside, just aft and fore of the ejection port, are sets of slots that snuggle neatly into the V-block fingers. To secure the action to the stock it has two allen head screws, and if everything is snuggled-down, you will have a metal-to-metal fit. In case the weather changes, if things get knocked around, it does not matter. The secret to accuracy is consistency, and this system is consistent.

The stock is contoured nicely and in the forearm it has built-in unique finger grooves. The RAR grip is enhanced with a molded-in gripping surface, and the magazine plastic box is easily inserted or detached.

Choosing A Laser

With todays technology, many laser options have currently become available for weapons. Many manufactures are expressing why they have the best laser for the buck. Im here to go through each laser and explain the pros and cons of handgun lasers.

Crimson Trace Lasers:

Crimson Trace Lasers are built in the U.S.A and currently offer a variety of different options. Depending on the model of your weapon you can have a laser on your grip, trigger guard, or front rail. Below I have broken down each of their models.

Crimson Trace Lasergrips:
These lasers are attached to a set up grips you would set up on your weapon. The way to activate the laser is to squeeze the grip, which is natural when firing your weapon.

Crimson Trace Laserguard:
The Crimson Trace Laserguard models are molded for the trigger guard of your weapon and extend underneath the front of the barrel. These types of laser are also activated from squeezing the grip of the gun. When wanting to be discrete with your laser this can be very helpful in a dark situation.

Crimson Trace Rail Master:
The Crimson Trace Rail Master is a universal laser that goes underneath the barrel and attaches to the rail of your weapon. This laser you will need to reach up with your pointer finger and engage the laser.

LaserMax Inc.

LaserMax Inc. Has been in the industry for over 20 years and specializes in laser technology. LaserMax Inc. is located Rochester NY and has been a major success. LaserMax offers a variety of differently sized lasers but I will go over their two most popular models.

LaserMax Centerfire Series:
The Lasermax Centerfire laser is a trigger mounted laser that is molded specifically for the weapon and wraps underneath the barrel. This type of laser is activated by reaching up with your pointer finger and activating the laser. These laser can come in red and green depending on which model weapon you have.

LaserMax Micro Laser
The LaserMax micro laser is a universal laser and can attach to most weapon that have an accessory rail underneath the barrel. To activate this laser oyu will need to reach up with your pointer finger and push to turn the laser on.

Testing: These two companies have great products and provide excellent customer service. We tested all of the above models for durability, accuracy, and brightness. We found that accuracy was not as different as we thought it would be. All of these models were very close in grouping and I’m sure with the precise amount of tweaking could be perfected. As far as durability goes these models are almost unbreakable. They hold up very well. We held them at eye level and dropped them multiple times. Not one time did this affect the accuracy or the overall performance of the weapon. We also noticed that the plastic shell did not break and only had minor abrasions. When we did the light test we did notice the green laser out performed red by far. We didn’t have a tool or any technology to see which one was actually brighter but if we were to guess we would go with the Crimson Trace.

Price: Price could play a major role in your decision to purchase a laser. We have attached the pricing of each of the lasers and can say that Crimson Trace does have the higher price tag. LaserMax seems to be on the lower end of the pricing but I did notice something. On the package of the Lasermax it says “Assembled in the USA”. Im not sure if these are made overseas but that of course could play a role in why their seems to be a large difference in price.

Conclusion: Both companies have excellent customer service and offer a product that is durable, functional, and accurate. These two laser companies have the leading edge in laser technology in the weapons field. Either two of these companies will be an excellent choice when choosing a laser for your weapon.

Bank of America – Anti Gun – Drops McMillan Group International

Bank of America has sparked outrage from gun lovers after telling McMillan Group International that they could no longer do business because they manufacture firearms.

McMillan Group was quick to post on their Facebook to all their customers what had just happened:

McMillan Fiberglass Stocks, McMillan Firearms Manufacturing, McMillan Group International have been collectively banking with Bank of America for 12 years. Today Mr. Ray Fox, Senior Vice President, Market Manager, Business Banking, Global Commercial Banking came to my office. He scheduled the meeting as an “account analysis” meeting in order to evaluate the two lines of credit we have with them. H…e spent 5 minutes talking about how McMillan has changed in the last 5 years and have become more of a firearms manufacturer than a supplier of accessories. At this point I interrupted him and asked “Can I possible save you some time so that you don’t waste your breath? What you are going to tell me is that because we are in the firearms manufacturing business you no longer what my business.” “That is correct” he says. I replied “That is okay, we will move our accounts as soon as possible. We can find a 2nd Amendment friendly bank that will be glad to have our business. You won’t mind if I tell the NRA, SCI and everyone one I know that BofA is not firearms industry friendly?” “You have to do what you must” he said. “So you are telling me this is a politically motivated decision, is that right?” Mr Fox confirmed that it was. At which point I told him that the meeting was over and there was nothing let for him to say. I think it is import for all Americans who believe in and support our 2nd amendment right to keep and bear arms should know when a business does not support these rights. What you do with that knowledge is up to you. When I don’t agree with a business’ political position I can not in good conscience support them. We will soon no longer be accepting Bank of America credit cards as payment for our products. Kelly D McMillan Director of Operations McMillan Group International, LLC 623-582-9635

Bank of America started seeing hundreds of customers posting nasty comments on their page. Customers are stating “We are dropping you”.

Bank of America Released this:

We want to let you know that we hear your comments and questions regarding one of our customers. While we cannot discuss the details of any individual client we work with, we can assure you the allegations being made here are completely false. Bank of America does not have a policy that prohibits us from banking clients in this industry. In fact, we have numerous, longstanding customers in the industry. We are also extremely proud of our support of the US military and reject any assertion to the contrary. We count as clients many companies that provide for our nation’s defense. We employ thousands of veterans, Guardsmen, and Reservists, and plan to increase our hiring this year.

I wouldnt be too suprised to see thousands of customers taking their money out of BOA’s banks around the country. They have simply pissed off every single gun owner in the country. This is not my “Bank of America”. We here at USA Gun Blog beleive in one simple thing. The right to bear arms. Anyone trying to take action to change that is NOT someone we will support.

We fully back McMillan Group International and hope to see everyone make their profile picture the Bank Of America with a X through it.

Bank of America, you have one thing to do and I think everyone knows what that is….. A public announcment on your views, WITH an apology.
